5 Ingredient Beef Chili
The simmer time on this chili is only 10 minutes, but you could let it cook a little longer to extract even more flavor. Just keep an eye on the moisture level and add water if need be.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small white or yellow onion, diced
- 3 (15 oz.) cans diced tomatoes with green chiles
- 2 (15 oz.) cans beans, drained (we like to mix kidney and black beans, but choose your favorite!)
- 2 tbsp. chili powder
- Favorite toppings: Shredded cheese, sour cream, cilantro, etc.
In a large stockpot, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Once cooked, drain the beef, reserving 1 tablespoon of grease for the rest of your cooking, and set aside.
With your 1 tablespoon of reserved grease, cook the onion in the same pot and saute for 5 minutes, or until soft and translucent.
Add the remaining ingredients and the cooked beef to the stockpot and stir to combine.
Bring the ingredients to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes (or longer, if you prefer).
Serve with your favorite garnishes and toppings.
